What is Bloom (Gun-play Mechanic) in FPS Games?
In many games, when a weapon is fired carelessly, it has a certain amount of bloom or "spread". This varies depending on the player's recoil, movement and fire rate. It's meant to punish players for not caring about the game mechanics involved.
Boosts the intensity of select pixels prior to applying the convolution bloom filter. This allows for a more centered response to a brighter source, however large changes in the kernel image will require a full offset of the bloom effect.
This option is a good way to test out a kernel image. It will provide a more accurate representation of how the bloom will look. However, it is not recommended to use this in production. The amount of extra brightness is not a good look and it may cause aliasing on edges and blurriness. A better solution is to use the “advanced” version of this control which includes a bilinear texture sampler.
